Job Title: Flood Risk Engineer
Location: Bristol (Hybrid Working)
Rate: £300 - £356 per day
Contract Type: Contract - Initial 6 months

Role Overview:
We are currently seeking a skilled Flood Risk Engineer to support a Local Authority in Bristol in fulfilling its statutory responsibilities as a Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA). The successful candidate will play a vital role in assessing flood risk and surface water drainage matters in relation to planning applications.
 
Key Responsibilities:
·Review and respond to planning consultations relating to surface water flood risk and drainage in line with LLFA responsibilities.
·Provide clear, evidence-based consultation responses within 21 days of receipt from the Local Planning Authority.
·Track and monitor incoming planning consultations and ensure timely delivery of responses.
·Liaise with planning officers, developers, consultants, and other stakeholders to advise on flood risk and drainage matters.
·Review drainage strategies, flood risk assessments, and sustainable drainage (SuDS) proposals.
·Ensure that responses comply with relevant planning policy, legislation, and technical guidance.
What we're looking for:
·Experience in flood risk engineering or flood risk management, ideally within a local authority or consultancy setting.
·Strong understanding of surface water flood risk, drainage design, and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
·Familiarity with planning policy, national guidance, and the responsibilities of LLFAs.
·Confidence in reviewing technical documentation and providing feedback.
