Flood Modelling Assistant Team Leader - Reading
 
Shape complex flood modelling projects and step into senior leadership
 
You will be stepping into a technically influential role where your flood modelling expertise genuinely matters. This Flood Modelling Assistant Team Leader position is designed for someone who wants to take ownership of complex modelling work, guide technical standards, and develop people, while progressing towards further seniority.
 
You will be trusted to make decisions, solve challenging problems, and lead from the front without unnecessary layers of bureaucracy slowing you down.
 
You will be joining a well-established and fast-growing consultancy operating across development and infrastructure planning and delivery. My client is recognised for providing trusted, high-quality advice to developer clients across the UK, supporting projects from early feasibility through to planning and technical approvals.
You will work alongside experienced Flood & Water Management, Civil Infrastructure and Transport Planning professionals in a collaborative, supportive environment.
As a Flood Modelling Assistant Team Leader, you will be leading the technical delivery of flood modelling projects while supporting the development of a growing team.
 
You will be doing the following:
·Leading and reviewing flood risk modelling using industry-standard hydraulic modelling software
·Taking ownership of model build, verification, sensitivity testing and interpretation
·Managing and mentoring junior and mid-level modellers, supporting their technical development
·Acting as a key technical advisor to clients, planning authorities and regulators
·Supporting planning applications and development schemes through robust modelling evidence
·Managing workloads, programmes and budgets across multiple projects
·Driving best practice, innovation and continuous improvement in flood modelling
·Building your profile as a senior technical specialist within the business
 
This Flood Modelling Assistant Team Leader role will suit someone currently working at Senior, Principal or Associate level and looking to formalise their leadership responsibilities.
 
To be successful as a Flood Modelling Assistant Team Leader, you will bring:
·A degree in a relevant discipline
·Strong experience delivering flood risk modelling within a consultancy environment
·Proven capability using hydraulic modelling software (1D/2D)
·Experience mentoring or managing technical staff
·Strong understanding of UK flood risk policy and guidance
·Experience using GIS software such as QGIS, ArcGIS or MapInfo
·Excellent technical reporting and communication skills
 
Chartership, a higher degree or experience acting as a technical reviewer is desirable but not essential.
 
You will receive a salary of £54,000 - £65,000 per year dependent on experience, alongside a comprehensive benefits package including:
