Job description

Role: Field Service Engineer
Location: Oxford/Bicester
Salary: £26,000-£30,000 plus overtime

Do you have experience in the water sector or a background / knowledge in engineering?

My client, who operate UK wide,  specialise in commercial water treatment systems, wash water reclamation systems and other associated equipment including design, installation and maintenance.

They're currently looking for a field engineer in the Oxford/Bicester areas to maintain, install and repair water treatment equipment that feeds a multitude of vehicle washing equipment. My client also service pressure washers and other related equipment. We install and service water softeners and reverse osmosis equipment but again where this is connected to a vehicle wash. They have some involvement in sewage treatment plant also.

Full training is provided but we are looking for an engineer with fair electrical knowledge, previous work in pipework and pump repairs/installs.

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess a full UK driving licence
  • Have an electromechanical background
  • Be self-motivated and organised with a flexible approach to work
  • Be a natural problem solver with a can-do attitude

Experience in maintenance and/or with vehicle wash or pump systems and pipe work would be an advantage.

In return:

  • Full product training
  • Competitive salary within the wash industry
  • Fully stocked company vehicle
  • Stores - Located close to residential address
  • 22 days Holiday + B/hols, increasing every 5 years
  • A Friendly working environment

Engineers are paid door to door, receive a fully stocked company van, fuel card, local store room, tablet and mobile phone. They offer incentives where engineers help towards winning new contracts or increasing equipment on an existing contract.

It will be a standard 40 hour week but factoring in the door to door travel engineers are likely to earn £39,000 p/a based on a 50 hour week.

Monday to Friday, overtime paid at time and a half after your first 8 hours of work.
Saturday - When called out paid at time and a half in addition to the £25 standby allowance.
Sunday - When called out paid at double time, in addition to the £25 standby allowance.

My client also have a progression plan within the service department where engineers can earn a level 2 pay grade, this increases the standard hourly rate by £0.50 per hour, which of course filters through to overtime and average pay.
