Estimator - Utilities

Carrington West are delighted to present an exciting new opportunity alongside our client who are an up and coming Utilities and Civil Engineering contractor who specialise in the in the construction and management of a range of utility connections including electrical, water and telecoms. In addition the Civil Construction arm of the business undertake work on a variety of schemes, from small foundations to full civil structures within Power generation and water management.

Due to continued growth within the business they are now looking for an Estimator to join their established team and help to tender for capital projects and framework contracts with values ranging between £500 k and £4M.

Responsibilities:

• Your role will involve organising appropriate tender enquiries from key clients in the industry.
• Responsible for administrating correspondence and tender documents.
• When preparing tenders from first principles you will be responsible for all build ups and take offs. Taking into consideration: civils excavation, mains / cable laying, repairs / maintenance / blockages, plant, transport, reinstatement and the overall programme of works.
• Responsible for investigating cost effective and / or alternative construction solutions.
• Your role will involve the handover of tender files to the project team.
• Responsible for mentoring and supporting junior members of staff in the team when required.

Key requirements:

• Professionally qualified in Civil Engineering with established estimating experience based on first principles.
• It is essential that you have previous estimating experience, having worked on capital projects and framework contracts with a minimum value of  £1M+
• Excellent understanding of estimating processes and tender buying.
• Diploma of Higher Education (preferred)
• Driving Licence (preferred)
