Estimator required for a major highways and civils contractor to join the business on an Outside IR35 freelance basis.
 
As the successful Estimator you will have proven experience of pricing General Civils and Highways maintenance contracts.
 
You will be required on-site one day a week with the rest of the work being remote.
 
Other experience required....
 
·Be qualified to degree level in General Civil Engineering or similar.
·Good knowledge of civil engineering and the construction industry
·Confident in pricing independently with minimal reliance on others
·Highly proficient in numeracy
·Excellent IT skills, including all Microsoft packages.
·Analytically minded, with the ability to undertake financial analysis.
·Ability to hit tight deadlines under pressure.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
·Responsible for winning work by producing tenders and developing key customer relationships.
·Prepare accurate costing sheets for materials, labour and equipment based on customer drawings and specifications.
·Reviews tenders from the procurement team to ensure all tenders are based on real market quotations.
·Understand current market prices and benchmark our solutions to increase success rates.
·Managing and coordinating the preparation of preliminary and general expense pricing, including plant schedules and risk assessment.
·Assist with presenting tender proposals to customer's and attend customer meetings during the tender process.       
·Assess and adhere to all risk assessments and health and safety requirements.
·Respond to client's questions, including post tender queries.
·Source suitable sub-contractors and specialists for each project
·Liaise with others, including Construction Managers, Planners, and the Design Team
·Produce documents for senior management to show cost calculations.
·Ensure that the commercial team and project operations team have received an effective handover of bid documentation.
