Role: Graduate Electrical Project Engineer
Location: Cheshire

My client are a leading several Billion pound turnover business who operate in all the UK's main infrastructure sectors. They are currently looking for several electrical project engineer graduates who can join their vast water sector framework in the North West, working on large capital works on behalf of united utilities.
 
The engineer of today is, and has to be, multi skilled. To complement technical expertise, an engineer also has to be a good communicator, be aware of the commercial and legal implications of his/her work, and also be able to manage people and resources. An educational qualification goes a long way to meeting these competencies, but there are some skills that cannot be taught in the classroom and are gained by working within an experienced project team.

The training structure will be based on the following guidelines:
 
Graduates
 
Phase 1 (project engineer), 6-12 months
 
Based on working within the water joint venture between the contractor and the design partner as a project engineer
 
Phase 2 (office and site based), 12-18 months Experience in one or more of the following departments: Engineering/Planning/
 
Work Winning/Procurement/HSEQ/Estimating/Design/Commissioning.
 
Phase 3 (project engineer), 6-12 months
 
Based on working within water joint venture between the contractor and the design partner  as a project engineer
 
Development Objectives:
 
The following are objectives and targets to aid the development of Graduate Engineers within the business for a 3-year programme to coincide with their experience and studies. These targets and objectives are set following a combination of guidance from the relevant professional bodies and bespoke objectives which can be changed to fit project specific requirements and controlled by Line Managers and Supervising Engineers.
 
Whilst the document focuses on key objectives and targets set within time scales, the programme is aimed to be flexible and can be amended based on project type and placement.
 
Phase 1 to 3 - Development Objectives will cover the following categories and specific subjects:

2. Technical and Practical Application of Engineering
3. Quality Assurance
4. Management and Leadership
5. Independent Judgement and Responsibility
6. Commercial Competence
7. Health, Safety and Welfare
8. Sustainable Development
9. Interpersonal Skills and Communication
10. Professional Commitment
 
ideally candidate will come with a degree in a field of engineering, and some form of work experience towards the electrical side of engineering.
