Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Drainage Engineer to come and join our busy client in South West England.
 
The main duties of the Drainage Engineer are:
 
·Undertake and assist all users in the analysis, understanding, mitigation of flood risk and its impacts.
·Undertake assessment of the impact of all development and relevant works on drainage systems.
·Negotiate with developers and their representatives in relation to drainage proposals and check and approve designs.
·Provide specialist and technical advice in relation to the mitigation of flooding.
·Undertake and technically review flood defence designs and ensure appropriate maintenance methodologies are developed. Undertake and review initial assessment and feasibility studies for future schemes.
·Manage and assist in the investigation of flooding events, service requests and assist in the drafting and publishing of the associated report required under section 19 of the FWMA.
·Assist in the development of the asset register as required under the Flood and Water Management Act. Ensure and assist in the development of appropriate maintenance regimes.
·Assist in the identification of critical structures and features considered to be a local flood risk. Assist in Identifying and managing the asset information required to enable prioritised and cost effective programmes of maintenance and improvement work to be developed.
·Identify relevant engineering schemes and projects and develop project briefs for their implementation. Assist in the preparation of funding bids for schemes.
