Role: Drainage Approval Engineer
Location: Northampton
Salary: £35,700
Start date: ASAP
 
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Drainage Approval Engineer to join a Development Services Drainage team. The successful candidate will be working within a well established and experienced team. Much of your work will be office based and you will be responsible for ensuring that all new adoptable sewerage assets are designed in accordance with National Guidance (Design Construction Guidance) and Anglian Water standards. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the existing sewerage infrastructure is protected by assessing the suitability of applications to divert the public sewerage system. 


Building and maintaining customer relationships to consistently deliver excellent customer service will be a key responsibility of this role. You will be required to provide technical knowledge and guidance to internal and external customers, support innovative and sustainable solutions for drainage designs whilst keeping up-to-date with latest technology and products within the market. 
 
You will ideally be educated to degree level in a relevant Engineering discipline, however, candidates that are training towards a relevant Engineering qualification will also be considered. You will ideally have experience of a similar role within the water industry or experience of working on the design of sewerage infrastructure. Knowledge of Sewerage Code for Adoption, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Sewerage Law and Health and Safety Legislation would also be beneficial.  

You'll need to be an excellent team player with a strong customer focus who is able to act on your own initiative with good planning and organisational abilities. You'll also have excellent communication (written and oral) and decision making skills. You must be flexible in your approach to work and be able to adapt and challenge as well as managing a demanding and conflicting workload. With excellent numeracy / literacy skills you will also have the ability to understand new legislation and provide an effective service whilst balancing the needs of our customers alongside those of the business.
