Committed to shaping sustainable communities and fostering responsible development, they are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a team as the Deputy Head of Planning.
 
Role Overview:
As the Deputy Head of Planning, you will play a crucial role in driving the strategic vision and operational excellence of our planning department. Working closely with the Head of Planning, you will be responsible for leading a team of dedicated professionals in delivering high-quality planning services to our community.
 
Key Responsibilities:
·Oversee the day-to-day operations of the planning department, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
·Provide leadership and guidance to a team of planners, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture.
·Contribute to the development and implementation of the local planning strategy, ensuring alignment with national and regional policies.
·Review and evaluate planning applications, offering expert advice and recommendations to support decision-making.
·Act as a key liaison with external stakeholders, including developers, government agencies, and community groups.
·Stay abreast of legislative changes and emerging trends in planning to inform decision-making and departmental strategy.
 
Qualifications and Experience:
·Relevant degree in Urban Planning, Town Planning, or a related field.
·Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or an equivalent professional body.
·Proven experience in a senior planning role, with a track record of successfully leading and managing a planning team.
·Strong understanding of UK planning legislation, policies, and procedures.
·Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
·Strategic thinking and the ability to contribute to the long-term vision of the planning department.
