Job description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cost Controller to join our Bristol-based Project Controls team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the on-time and on-cost delivery of projects through effective cost management, performance analysis, and reporting.
This role is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working across multiple disciplines - including procurement, commercial, estimating, and finance - to ensure robust project controls are maintained.

- Rate: £48 an hour
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Controls team in delivering projects to time and budget alongside adhering to project cost standards, processes, and procedures across the portfolio.
- Manage day-to-day planning and cost management activities across assigned projects.
- Implement and maintain cost control systems in line with project control requirements.
- Produce and review monthly Earned Value Management (EVM) and performance reports.
- Liaise with commercial, finance, and planning teams to establish effective systems and processes for recording and tracking cost and value progress.
- Collate, validate, and analyse data for internal and client reporting.
- Prepare and present reports and KPI dashboards, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Work with Package Leads to compile accurate and timely Monthly Performance Reports.
- Develop and deliver cost analysis, trend identification, and forecasting to support decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to project cost standards, processes, and procedures across the portfolio.
- Integrate cost and forecast data from contractors and suppliers into project estimates.
- Assess and document change impacts, updating budgets and forecasts accordingly.
- Identify cost variances, risks, and opportunities via the Change Management process.
- Maintain consistent, high-quality Monthly Cost Reports and ensure all approved changes are reflected accurately.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong mathematical and analytical ability.
- Sound understanding of Cost Management and Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Proficiency in Excel (Advanced) and Office 365.
- Experience using Power BI and MS Power Platform for reporting and visualisation.
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, and time management skills.
- High attention to accuracy and data integrity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable:
- Experience within an engineering or infrastructure project environment.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6.
- Exposure to Agile data science, project controls frameworks, or EVM systems.
