Highways Contract Manager
 
 
Are you an experienced Highways Contract Manager in the North West now seeking a new opportunity?
 
Could you deliver client facing schemes for a Tier 1 contractor with the Highways and Civils sector?

Role
 
As Contract Manager, you will be the first point of contact for all operations within the North West area.  You will work closely with the Operations Manager to provide the Client facing scheme support to the Project Managers below you. You will provide independent engineering and management support to schemes. You will be reliable, responsible, professional and knowledgeable.
 
Your duties will include you being heavily involved in the tendering of new works and the monitoring of the works during scheme delivery. With a view to identifying client needs and ensuring delivery takes place to agreed timescales.
 
You will be expected to easily manage established site and contact systems to control the flow of engineering information between the company and their client on multiple live schemes simultaneously. As such you will be responsible for generating and managing change control records, assisting the commercial team in the recovery of scheme expenditure, managing supply chain relationships and overseeing the delivery of the schemes in accordance with procedures.
 
You will be trained and expected to identify and check elements of temporary works at various stages of their installation or removal. You will be expected to attend and represent the business at area / community working groups scheme and contribute to interim progress reports stating the delivery position of the schemes under your control, including updates to contract programmes using MS Project.   
 
 
Responsibilities - but not limited to:
 
·Health & Safety:
·Coach peers to improve team and company performance.
·Develop effective and efficient work teams and motivate individuals to meet targets.
·Liaise with clients and develop good business relationships.
·Chair / attend scheme progress meetings.
·Undertake pre-tender site visits and submit reports to the commercial department for pricing when instructed to do so by the CM.
·Attend and contribute to tender review meetings.
·Ability to read and interpret site drawings and specifications to a high standard.
·Ability to recognise items of temporary works on schemes and develop a temporary works register
·Ability to supervise and check elements of temporary works in line with a prepared design.
·Identify and ensure that a suitable supply chain has been identified and is in place to deliver the scheme
·Subcontract management during delivery of the scheme to identify and resolve delivery concerns
·Ensure change control is recorded and managed through early warnings.
·Able to maintain and operate scheme admin system ensuring correspondence registers are kept up to date and correctly referenced.  
·Quality Management:
·Keep PM and QS informed of any changes to works scope, programme, issues preventing works being carried out in line with tendered outputs so EWN and CE can be raised.
·Programme Development, Delivery & Management.
 
 
Qualifications / Experience
 
Essential

·HNC/ HND - Civil Engineering.
·Experience in the Industries in which we work i.e. highways, etc
·CSCS Manager Card
·SMSTS
·Ability to read plans and drawings to a high standard
·Good understanding of the relationship between contract documentation.
·Confident using MS Project
 
Preferable

·Already operating as a site agent / project manager
·NRSWA Accreditation
·Degree Civil Engineering
·CITB Temporary Works Training
·CPCS Lift Supervisor accreditation
 
 
Person Specification
 
·Ability to work as part of a team
·Professional attitude and ability to operate without supervision
·Good understanding of contract documents and the relationship between them
·Capable of teaching and developing operatives
·Demonstrates strong Health and Safety skills and leadership
·Good time management & high degree of organisation.
·Good Appreciation of Engineering principles.
·An understanding of relevant Health & Safety legislation
·Full clean driving licence
