Job description

Carrington West are pleased to offer an outstanding role with a fantastic company in Nottingham. As a Contract Agent you will manage the delivery of highway and civil engineering construction and maintenance work, ensuring that works are delivered to specification, financial and time targets, safely and efficiently.
 
What you will be doing:
·Evaluate, interpret, and asses, construction information including specifications, drawings, plans and material schedules, to enable direct reports and subcontractors to delivery works safely, on time and within budget.
·Continually assess health, safety and environmental risks, for projects and works under your control and activities of the team, to eliminate or reduce the chance of harm or damage.
·Effectively control or reduce expenditure and maximise income, on projects and works under your control, to meet or exceed financial targets; to deliver a positive financial outcome for the business.
·Actively use and share your training and experience, with colleagues and employees under your control, to improve their knowledge, technical skills, potential, performance and value to the company.
·Continually evaluate working practices, resource use and deployment across your teams, works and projects, to achieve maximum quality and efficiency, and lowest cost delivery for the company.
·Develop detailed plans and programmes from design and pre-construction information, to document and communicate a clear, efficient sequence of delivery that is understood and achieved by your team.   
·Manage the allocation, operation and use of vehicles and plant by you and your team to ensure legal compliance, operational best practice, reduction of risk and cost to the business.  
·Complete and ensure completion by others, site records and information, manual and electronic, are maintained before, during and after works, to comply with quality and environmental management systems, codes of practice, legislation and industry best practice.
 
What you need to know:
·Level 3 qualification in civil engineering or relevant technical subject, or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience in civil engineering, building or surveying.
·Hold Industry recognised qualifications; New Roads and Street Works Act, Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme, Temporary Works Co-ordinator Certificate, CITB SSSTS
·Knowledge and experience of health, safety and environmental regulations and codes of practice relating to civil / highway engineering and construction and able to write and communicate site specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
·Detailed knowledge of construction plant and materials used in civil engineering and highway maintenance works.   
·Experience in project management and planning of construction and maintenance, works and projects.
·Experience of cost control and financial management across projects and works to £0.5m each, including management and recording of income and expenditure.
·ICT skills with experience of using applications including Microsoft Word and Excel, email and the internet.  
·Full current driving licence.
