Job Title: Commercial Manager
Location: Taunton (2 days a week, with some flexibility)
Salary: £70,000 - £75,000 per annum
Employment Type: Full-time, Seconded via Consultancy

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Commercial Manager to join our consultancy, working on secondment with a leading Highways and Civil Engineering contractor. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a pivotal role in delivering major infrastructure projects across the region, based in Taunton for two days per week.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all commercial and financial aspects of the projects, ensuring that contracts are managed efficiently, and costs are controlled effectively.
 
Key Responsibilities:
·Manage the commercial aspects of ongoing Highways and Civil Engineering projects.
·Ensure effective contract administration and compliance with agreed contractual obligations.
·Lead on cost control, procurement, and subcontractor management, ensuring all financial targets are met.
·Prepare and review cost forecasts, budgets, and financial reports.
·Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and key stakeholders.
·Liaise closely with the project delivery teams to ensure smooth commercial operations and risk mitigation.
·Negotiate contracts, change orders, and final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
·Identify and address any commercial risks or issues that may arise.
·Implement best practices for cost and risk management across the project lifecycle.
 
Requirements:
·Proven experience as a Commercial Manager in the Highways, Civil Engineering, or Construction sectors.
·Strong knowledge of contract management, particularly NEC and JCT forms of contract.
·Excellent financial and commercial acumen with a focus on cost control and contract compliance.
·Effective leadership and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
·Experience working within a consultancy environment is advantageous, though not essential.
·A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field is preferred.
·Professional accreditation (RICS, ICES, or similar) is desirable.
