I am actively recruiting a Clerk of Works with S278 Highways experience to work on a contract basis in the Birmingham area. This is a part time contract (2 days per week), with an anticipated contract duration of 12 months. The IR35 status for this role is undetermined at this stage, so my client is considering workers both inside IR35 and outside IR35.
 
Key experience and skills required 
 
·Minimum of 10 years' + experience in supervision or direction of contractors on highway, structural or civil engineering works, with previous S278 experience
·Industrial development experience would be advantageous
·A recognised qualification within engineering, construction and transport
·Knowledge of applying the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Chapter 8 (Traffic Signs Manual), Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 and New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA)
·Ensure that all construction works are completed in accordance with the required quality standards as set out in British Standards, the contract information and site instructions, including the correct use and installation of specialist materials
·To liaise with internal and external stakeholders including statutory undertakers, the public and businesses
