Job description

As a Civil Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical support in the development and design of infrastructure projects, with a specific focus on highways and drainage systems. Your expertise will contribute to the successful delivery of diverse development schemes, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Working closely with our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in the planning, design, and implementation of infrastructure solutions.
 
Responsibilities:
 
·Collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop innovative and sustainable infrastructure designs for development projects, focusing on highways and drainage systems.
·Prepare and produce accurate technical drawings, using AutoCAD or similar software, including plans, sections, and details for highways, drainage, and associated infrastructure.
·Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, reports, and specifications for highways and drainage design, ensuring compliance with industry standards and local regulations.
·Undertake drainage design tasks, including the design of surface water management systems, attenuation, and sustainable drainage solutions (SuDS).
·Liaise with external stakeholders, such as local authorities, utility companies, and contractors, to coordinate design requirements and obtain necessary approvals.
·Support the coordination of highway and drainage works during the construction phase, providing technical assistance and responding to site queries.
·Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and implementation of innovative technologies within the infrastructure development sector.
 
Requirements:
·HND/HNC qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field.
·Proven experience in the design and development of highways and drainage infrastructure, ideally within a consultancy or engineering environment.
·Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar computer-aided design software.
·Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices, including but not limited to DMRB, Local Authority Guidelines, and SuDS principles.
·Familiarity with hydraulic analysis and drainage design software (e.g., MicroDrainage) is desirable.
·Excellent technical drawing skills and the ability to produce accurate and detailed engineering drawings.
·Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive and innovative approach to design challenges.
·Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and liaise with external stakeholders.
·Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within set deadlines.
