Job description
We are working with a leading multi-disciplinary construction consultancy looking to strengthen their team of Building Surveyors in London. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Project or Intermediate Building Surveyor looking to further develop their career in a supportive, collaborative environment.
The role offers a varied and rewarding workload, spanning public and private sector projects, including housing, education, and commercial schemes. The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering a full range of building surveying services while supporting junior team members and contributing to business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Project/Intermediate Building Surveyor on a variety of projects from inception to completion, including feasibility reports, specifications, procurement, and contract administration.
- Manage projects to ensure quality, timeliness, and client satisfaction.
- Collaborate with internal and external consultants to ensure integrated project documentation.
- Liaise with relevant authorities on building regulations, planning applications, and listed building consents.
- Attend site meetings as Lead Consultant/Project Surveyor, including Pre-Start and Project Meetings.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing technical and financial advice throughout projects.
- Assist with the development and mentoring of junior team members.
- Promote the consultancy's services to existing and new clients, contributing to business growth.
- Uphold and promote equality, diversity, and inclusivity across the organisation.
Candidate Profile:
- Degree-qualified in Building Surveying or a relevant subject.
- MRICS qualified (preferred, but not essential).
- 3-5 years' post-degree experience in building surveying.
- Proven experience delivering core building surveying and project management services across a range of project types and values.
- Previous experience working on public sector housing and education projects (preferred); commercial sector experience advantageous.
- Strong technical knowledge of contracts, contract administration, specification writing, and project management techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage workload efficiently, working independently or as part of a team.
- A commercially minded approach, with an understanding of business priorities.
