Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bridge Technician to come and join a busy Highways Network Management Team in West Yorkshire.
 
 The Bridge Technician will assess, inspect, identify, promote, direct and commission programmes of work as necessary under the direction of the Section Engineer - Bridges to assist in the maintenance of these highway assets in a safe and serviceable manner.
 
The main duties of the experienced Bridge Technician are:
 
To identify, organise and ensure the implementation of a programme of General, Principal and Special Inspections of the Highway structural assets.
 
To produce and maintain records associated with the various inspections.
 
To prioritise, investigate and respond to requests for service, complaints and issues concerning bridges and structures from the public and other external and internal sources.
 
Responsible for identifying, developing and commissioning specific projects to maintain and improve structural assets using revenue and capital funding.
 
Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
 
Maintain and develop records on all aspects of Bridges and Structures matters
 
The experienced Bridge Technician will have knowledge/experience in:
 
Basic knowledge of surveying and all bridge and structural inspection techniques and recording
 
Basic knowledge of construction techniques, treatments and materials especially concrete, steel and masonry.
 
Experience in a highway, structural, construction or similar industry that demonstrates the skills and expertise relevant to this role, albeit with a significant level of supervision.
 
Ability to produce simply scheme drawings using AutoCad design package.
