Job description

Duties
 
The successful candidate will be a member of the design team working closely and reporting into a senior consultant. This position will require project work to be undertaken outside of the assigned team in accordance with company needs.
 
The company has a substantial design programme to deliver for a number of local authority clients and as such, are looking for a candidate that has experience in carrying out parking scheme designs, public and informal consultations and working knowledge of Traffic Management Orders.
 
The right candidate will be tasked to carry out the following:
 
·Design and implement Controlled Parking Zones as part of a borough wide programme
·Monitor a minor works database which will include the design of disabled bays, waiting and loading restrictions, footway parking and paid for parking, on and off street
·Review waiting and loading restrictions and regulatory signs to monitor compliance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016 (TSRGD)
·Design and implement various Traffic and Cycle infrastructure projects
·Assist Local Authorities with their active travel projects such as Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs) and School Streets
·Provide support with ongoing and continual traffic and data analysis/reporting of data trends using the Smart Lenz portal and VECC sensors and presenting the data in an easy to comprehend way, such as in maps, graphs, tables and reports
·Help develop and draft monitoring strategies, client reports, bid creation and liaison with key clients and other sub-contractors
 
Other duties will include:
 
·Supporting senior staff, providing technical support for a wide range of project types and consultancy commissions
·Ensure all project files are up to date and comply with the QA system
·Responding to client and customer enquiries, taking messages when necessary and ensuring that their needs are met
·Regular site visits as part of an active project or to attend clients offices
 
Our ideal candidate will have but not limited to:
 
·A relevant qualification in Engineering or a transport related qualification is advantageous
·Working towards their professional review with a recognised institution
·Consideration given to significant relevant experience in lieu of specified education and professional qualification
·Excellent understanding of highways and traffic engineering techniques and principles and a track record in transport planning, design and/or delivery
·Expertise in highways related AutoCAD design
·Familiarity with design standards, guidance and regulations such as TSRGD 2016, Traffic Signs Manual and Manual for Streets
·Familiarity with RTRA 1984 is advantageous
