Assistant Site Manager
 
What we need you to do:
Assist with the management of site operations (including the fulfilment of the role of Principal Contractor under CDM on Provider Works and undertaking the role of Supervisor on Managed Works) in relation to scheme delivery on the National Highways contract.
 
Working hours per week will average between 45-55.
 
 
What your responsibilities will be:
 
Reporting to the Site Manager.  Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
1.Assist with managing and administering the construction works in accordance with the contract.
2.Assisting with the implementation of the duties of the Principal Contractor under CDM and/or undertaking the role of the Supervisor under the NEC conditions of contract.
3.Assisting with the implementation of the Construction Phase Plan including ensuring compliance with the requirements (eg. site inductions and site rules).
4.Assist with ensuring that a robust construction programme is prepared, monitored and maintained.
5.Assisting with the management and control of all site operations including monitoring the progress of site operations and taking appropriate action (including identifying relevant instructions) to avoid over-run.
6.Assist with organising regular meetings with the contractor to review progress and programme.
7.Assisting with the recording of work carried out.
8.Checking compliance with the relevant Quality Plans, Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Inspection and Test Plans.
9.Assist with identifying changes to the works and assist the site manager to ensure they are properly communicated including the issue of instructions to the contractor.
10.Understand knowledge of roles and responsibilities within the site team.
11.Assist with ensuring temporary works are installed in accordance with the approved design details.
 
Who you will work with:
 
Construction Management Team members (Construction Manager / Scheme Delivery Manager / Construction Team Leaders / Site Managers / Inspectors / Clerk of Works).
The National Highways.
Contractors and Suppliers.
Key stakeholders: Emergency Services, Local Authorities, Department of the Environment, the Public and the Media.
What you will need to succeed:
 
Essential:
SMSTS/SSSTS
Experience in the delivery of the Principal Contractor's obligations
Extensive experience in the successful delivery of major highway projects involving night time working and restricted site availability.
Experienced in the successful delivery of construction projects to tight time and budget constraints.
Good working knowledge of construction programming.
Good working knowledge of risk management.
Problem solving skills.
Conversant with the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
Adaptability.
Drive and determination.
Positive attitude to the delivery of schemes through collaborative working in a partnering environment.
Preferable:
Detailed knowledge of the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW).
