Job description

Carrington West are assisting their local authority client in Hampshire in their search for a Senior Development Management Officer, with experience in Minerals and Waste, to join them on an initial 9-month contract.
Reporting to the Development Planning Manager, the role holder will be the development management case officer for Council and possess responsibility for minerals and waste planning applications, major applications and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) applications.
The role's main focus will be the processing of planning applications for Council development (residential, highway schemes, school, other development on council owned land) and broader region development (minerals and waste) and manage casework, including major applications and EIA applications.  This involves supporting validation and registration and leading on the consultation, evaluation, negotiation, recommendation and issuing planning decisions to meet statutory requirements and in accordance with professional best practice.
 
The role dimensions - financial and non financial
·To provide professional pre-application advice to applicants, in accordance with the fee paying pre-application advice protocols.
·To interpret advise and implement the Development Plan Policy in relation to minerals and waste development.
·To manage, carry out consultation, assess and determine details submitted to discharge planning conditions (as required).

·The role holder will be expected to work flexibly across the service stream as the demands of workload, projects and priorities dictate.
 
 
 
 
It would be desirable, although not mandatory, to hold a RTPI accredited Planning Degree or equivalent Planning qualification and/or have considerable experience in a similar position; and also hold a licentiate membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (or equivalent).
 
This job is fully remote to start with but will progress to require office presence.
