Geotechnical Engineer
 
Are you an experienced Geotechnical Engineer looking for a new contract opportunity?
 
I am currently recruiting for a Geotechnical Engineer to join a client in Leeds. The Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for ground and mining investigations, earthworks control and soils testing, analysing and interpreting data and drafting technical reports and correspondence under the direction of senior staff.
 
Accountabilities:
 
·Organise and supervise ground investigations and prepare reports on geotechnical implications.
·Prepare draft written geotechnical and geo-environmental reports and calculations.
·Complete work to programme, working within a team as necessary.
·Supervise site procedures and ground investigation term contracts.
·Liaise with clients, landowners, police and any other interested parties about implementation of site exploration works.
·Maintain a familiarity with appropriate specifications, codes of practice and manuals, including those related to contaminated land.
 
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
 
·Writing reports, carrying out presentations and communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
·Working in difficult terrain, carrying out trial pit and soakaway investigations.
·Familiarity with soil and rock descriptions.
·Ground investigation interpretative reporting.
·Producing desk top studies and Phase 1 geo-environmental reports.
·Delivering projects and initiatives in a service or operational area relevant to the area of service delivery in the remit of the post.
·Working effectively with others to deliver geotechnical projects.
·Understanding of factors contributing to geotechnical performance.
·Understanding of individual's and council's responsibilities for health and safety.
 
Qualifications & Training:
 
·Graduate in an appropriate discipline, qualified by specialist expertise with experience working in a relevant technical environment.
·Full UK driving licence.
