Job description

My client is currently seeking a Transport Planner or a Senior Transport Planner to join their Reading Transport team. This is a great opportunity to join a busy group with a strong forward workload and an established track record. 

The office is located just a short walk from Reading Station. They have a large team of Transport Planners that collaborate with a wide variety of other disciplines to deliver effective solutions to clients. They can offer a great environment to work in, along with flexibility to work between the office and home.

Projects include a wide range of public and private sector schemes that include significant development, infrastructure, and regeneration projects from small scale local schemes to larger national frameworks.

On a day-to-day basis, you will have the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of projects from inception to completion. You will play an important role in developing and influencing transport strategies while preparing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Feasibility Studies and other technical reports. Supervising, mentoring and training the junior members of the team will be an important part of your role.  

The pipeline of future work is growing for both private and public sector clients. This role will provide you with significant opportunity for career progression and personal development, through the delivery of high value quality services to influential clients, with opportunity to be involved in a wide range of projects, from site identification/screening through to delivery, including site promotion for Local Plans, planning applications, as well as, area wide studies, strategies, plans, option development and appraisal and business cases. 
 
You will be degree qualified in Transport Planning, Geography, Maths, Civil Engineering or a related field and ideally you will be Chartered (or en route to Chartership). 

You will have experience and understanding of the planning system and strong experience with Transport Assessments, Travel Planning, Junction modelling / analysis and experience of relevant software packages, including Microsoft Excel. You will have experience with budget and quality management at project level.
