Site Engineer - Highway Setting Out Engineer
 
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Highway Site Engineer to come and join our busy client in the South West on a temporary contract basis.
 
The role will require you to make a positive contribution to achieving Environment's purpose - "Help ensure that the area is safe, clean and green now and in the future." To assist in the delivery of efficient and effective daily on-site management of improvement schemes. To work alongside Staff, communities, contractors and other partners to achieve priorities and purposes.
 
In this role you will:
 
1.To take ownership of Highway Service and Construction Operations working as part of a team delivering Environment's purpose.
2.Work alongside Highway Team Members to resolve on site issues, liaising with Design Engineers.
3.To Provide Setting Out as per construction drawings for on-site delivery, liaising with Design Engineers.
4.Support the management of team members through the application of appropriate HR policies including Health and Safety, Capability and Performance reporting.
5.Ensure compliance with and continuous updating of documentation in accordance with CDM Regulations
6.To propose and develop alongside the Highway Delivery Manager new policies, working methods and practices for implementation. Balance conflicting and complex demands, the implementation of designs and engineering requirements.
7.To assist in monitoring of operational frontline staff delivering Highway Construction works ensuring job completion to pre-designed program and manage task continuity in an efficient manner.
8.To provide a key link between works teams and Highway Managers in delivery of improvement schemes.
9.Alert Improvement Works Manager to common or reoccurring issues/barriers to ongoing improvement seeking solutions for consideration and/or action
10.Identify and wherever possible resolve front line issues or difficulties where they arise, referring to line management as necessary.
11.Provide a regular on-site presence during large scale works.
12.Liaise with Works Supervisors at the earliest opportunity to notify of significant or potentially disruptive works/incidents to prevent or reduce enquiries and/or complaints.
13.To review and record compliance with Health and Safety on site. To record findings and update Highway Manager of breaches of Risk Assessments and Safe Working Practices
14.To undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time commensurate with the level of the post.
15.To comply with all decisions, policies and standing orders of the Council and any relevant statutory requirements, including the Equality Act, the Health and Safety at Work Act and Data Protection Act. Develop operational health and safety policy, safe working practices and undertake risk assessments ensuring such policy and procedures are communicated to and complied with by team members.
