We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Urban Designer to join a fast growing consultancy, who have opportunities UK Wide.
 
As the Senior Urban Designer you will help manage projects and have accountability for the delivery of high-quality urban design and public realm design services, as well as deliver and contribute to the success of business plans and strategies within identified markets.
 
The Role
 
·To ensure that the aspirations and expectations of stakeholders are met
·To provide leadership and direction to the various projects, with responsibility and accountability for ensuring quality products, consistent performance, best practice and technical excellence.
·Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key clients, adopting a collaborative partnership approach and negotiating at senior level with internal and external business partners, clients and customers. Contribute to winning new work that will enable the service function and wider business to meet growth aspirations.
·Act as line manager to members of the team, agreeing and measuring performance targets and ensuring cross-service working.
·Ensure that staff are provided with the appropriate information technology, mentoring and training needed to maintain high-quality service delivery.
·Report and contribute to team meetings as required, assisting in general team management and implementing agreed management strategies.
·Add value in the management, direction, delivery, and quality checking of appropriate project work; aiming for a minimum utilisation of 90% of time chargeable to clients.
 
The Ideal Candidate
·Degree or equivalent, ideally in architecture or landscape architecture with a post-graduation qualification in Urban Design
·Experience of approx. 6+ years (or showing high performance levels which match the role). Experience to ideally cover off some of the following:
·Managing internal and consultant teams and budgets at senior level
·Urban design and masterplanning across of a range of contexts and scales, ideally including town centre and high street regeneration studies
·Design codes, public realm design guides and other design guidance
·Feasibility studies, with some working knowledge of basic architectural layouts for apartments and houses
·Urban design input into outline and hybrid planning applications and Design and Access Statements
·Masterplanning residential-led schemes alongside wider urban design briefs and frameworks
·Seasoned professional with substantial experience in professional discipline
·Good professional experience in programme and project management
·Broad business knowledge and understanding
·Significant skills and experience in people management
·Knowledge and experience of financial management for significant project and programme values
·Demonstrable commercial awareness and skills
