Senior Systems Engineer (MBSE Specialist)
- Location: Reading (Full-time onsite)
- Working Pattern: 9-day fortnight available
- Rate: £464 per day Inside IR35
- Contract Length: 12 months
- Hours: 37 hours per week
Are you a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer (MBSE Specialist) looking to join a critical defence programme supporting the development and enhancement of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) capability across a complex, high-security environment?
This role is central to improving how engineering systems are modelled, analysed, and integrated, enabling better decision-making through accurate data, robust modelling, and effective stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Support and enhance MBSE practices across complex engineering systems
- Manage requirements, interface definitions, trade studies, and system integration activities
- Maintain engineering models ensuring consistency, integrity, and usability across teams
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Develop and maintain clear reporting outputs and visualisations from complex engineering models
- Analyse performance metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Optimise model deployment to improve accessibility and usability for stakeholders
Systems Integration
- Support integration of MBSE models with wider engineering tools and systems
- Ensure alignment between models, data structures, and system behaviour
- Contribute to improving MBSE maturity and adoption across the organisation
Verification and Validation
- Develop and implement verification strategies across engineering models
- Ensure accuracy, traceability, and reliability of engineering data and analysis outputs
- Support assurance activities within a regulated defence environment
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with engineers, subject matter experts, and senior stakeholders
- Translate complex technical outputs into clear, actionable insights
- Support decision-making at both technical and programme level
Key Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Strong experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Proven ability to manage and maintain complex engineering models
- Experience in data analysis, reporting, and visualisation
- Proficiency in SQL and database management
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience with verification and validation in engineering environments
