Job description

Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in the Home Counties in their search for a Senior Landscape Architect to join their Town Planning department. This will be offered on an initial 6-month contract, with further extensions - Largely remote.

The job purpose is to provide professional Landscape Architecture advice to internal and external clients, relating to development and infrastructure proposals, environmental improvement schemes, and policy formulation. You should use your professional Landscape Architecture skills and insight to evaluate proposals and identify opportunities for enhanced outcomes in accordance with Council and Departmental objectives, and seek to deliver these outcomes through excellent negotiation skills, either individually, or as part of a wider team.

Main Responsibilities and Duties:
To provide clear, concise professional Landscape Architecture advice on behalf of the Council, including:
-The provision of advice to the Development Management Team and other council colleagues.  This advice will relate to pre-application requests, development and infrastructure proposals.  This role will also be required to provide expert support in respect to planning appeals;  
-Advice from Landscape Officers will require thorough professional assessment of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments and sites, collaboration with colleagues, negotiation with customers to achieve Corporate and Departmental objectives;
-Landscape Officers may also be responsible for the design and delivery hard and soft landscape schemes in compliance with Professional responsibilities/Code of Conduct, Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations, legislative requirements, best practice, the Council's standing orders, procedures and policies, health and safety requirements and relevant professional, national or local performance indicators;
-Ability to influence the delivery of best practice in Landscape Architecture;  
-Contribution to or lead on the production of policy related to Landscape Architecture.  This may include the preparation of masterplans, briefs, and other policy or guidance as required;
-To lead or contribute to the design and implementation of environmental improvement or infrastructure schemes.
 
This officer will also be expected to:
