Job description
Role - Senior Civil Engineer
Location - Glasgow (preferred), remote working also available
Duration - 12 months
Rate - £300 /£400 per day (Inside IR35)
I am working with a client that is based in Glasgow but would be happy with a remote working situation. The client is looking to speak with candidates that are from a background in the energy sector and wo ae capable and confident enough to start from day one and impact the project.
This role will be primarily focused on onshore engineering frameworks where you will have to handle the design inputs that are associated with the construction/refurbishments to substations up to 400Kv upgrades and connection of renewable generation.
Key Deliverables:
- Preparation of well-structured design calculations, drawings and reports
- Vetting all designs before being issued
- To be technically innovative in solution of project demands
- Manage the full design team/ leadership and client relationship skills and technical team members as the team grows
- Act as the client liaison and manage the supply chain along with other project stakeholders
- Comply with the relevant H&S regulations and to follow company procedures
- Communicate with the project design leads, discipline leads and global design centres
- Have the ability to deliver technical solutions as guided by senior or principal engineers
- Have an understanding of other key disciplines (substation electrical equipment, overhead lines and cables etc)
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in civil engineering or similar discipline
- A working knowledge of British standards, UK industry codes of practice and relevant energy company specifications is desired
- Previous exposure to detailed design or construction within the UK energy sector would be advantageous but not essential
- Experience in working in multidisciplinary teams within the energy sector
- A good level of experience working within a civil and structural engineering capacity.
- Ability to deliver quality outputs and meet project timelines effectively.
- Experience with industry standard software (pref TEDDS, ROBOT, Masterseries) and working in the digital engineering environment (REVIT, Navisworks)
- A chartered status would be desired but not essential
