An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to work on a Highways term maintenance contract on a long-term contract basis in the Surrey area.
 
As the Highways Quantity Surveyor, you can expect to join a busy team working a contract split in to three main categories: Reactive Services, Asset Management and Capital Projects (budget c.£30m).
 
The normal working week will be 45 hours, and you will be responsible for the management of the Local Area Programme - which primarily consists of road maintenance and improvements works. The teams remit spans resurfacing, drainage works, structures maintenance / improvement schemes and high street improvements; amongst others.
 
The work itself is primarily Schedule of Rates management, which are issued by the client and measured and paid using tendered Schedule of Rates.
 
Key responsibilities:
 
1)            Managing works on day to day, including making and requesting payments
2)            Chasing & agreeing final accounts from subcontractors and agreeing the same with client
3)            Supporting with month end and cost value reconciliations
4)            Running a large programme of works, demonstrating sound organizational skills
 
Knowledge of contract documents is essential, in particular the Manual of Contract Document for Highways Works (MCHW), Specification and Method of Measurement
 
Ability to use Works Order system and competency utilising Microsoft Excel are highly desirable.
