Are you a Pway Design Engineer looking for a fantastic opportunity with a major engineering contractor?

My client is looking for a Permanent Way Design Engineer to join their Rail team in Derby.  The successful candidate will be expected to develop and deliver Pway designs; including surveys, plain line and S&C renewal design.

Key projects include:
·Platform extension works
·Line speed improvement schemes
·Structural Gauging
Knowledge of Microstation and Bentley Rail Track is essential, and Clear Route desirable.

This role will be standard office hours (37.5 per week) and will be working from home full-time until restrictions lift, where my client then expects to have flexible home/office working.

Salary: £28,000 to £35,000 dependent on experience.

Job Role:

  • Development of accurate track design, S&C and Plain Line.
  • Produce technical documentation including calculations, reports and specifications in accordance with standards and procedures.
  • Produce designers risk assessments eliminating hazards wherever possible through the design process.

Required:

  • Civil Engineering or relevant subject degree.
  • 4 years' post-graduate experience.
  • Experience working within an engineering organisation specifically within the rail sector.
  • Conversant with Bentley Rail Track, alongside MicroStation.
  • Familiar with construction and installation methods.
  • Knowledge of railway civil engineering surveying, specification/renewal in the UK.
  • Ability to write reports and specifications.

Desirable:

  • ClearRoute
  • Track maintenance/renewals experience.
  • Experience with details trackform design.
  • Knowledge of rail stressing
