About the company:
My client is a small to medium sized company with a team of 30-35 in their Rail systems team that specialises in the design of rail system/telecoms infrastructure and products, national and international!
This is a friendly company where directors are working alongside the rest of the team, with all staff members available and happy to help with quick turnarounds from problem to solution. With their open-door policy, they appreciate and recognise the hard work of every one of their employees.

This business covers a number of subsystems and projects in the Rail systems market including electrical including OLE & rolling stock brakes, SCADA, SISS, CCTV, PA, rolling stock, train computers, switches, RTUs etc. working on rolling stock, depots, level crossings, and station upgrades doing GRIP 4 to 8. They also design their own bespoke products when needed - potentially lifesaving products for the safety of rail/light rail rolling stock and infrastructure for SIL levels 1 - 4.

My client is unique within the rail systems space, giving their employees the opportunity to work on design, installation, and maintenance of any one of the sub-systems they specialise in on any type of project they work on. This means there is always a wide, diverse range of works to focus on and no day is the same - there will always be fantastic learning opportunities.

My client is looking for a Project Engineer to assist in the design, design reviews, and project delivery for a variety of station projects covering SISS.

Salary: up to £35,000.
Location: Ashby De La Zouch, full-time office working, hybrid post probation.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, flexible working hours available.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and review designs from other members of the team for Station Information and Security Systems including but not limited to Customer Information Screens, Long Line Public Address, Public Help Points, Closed Circuit Television, Ticket Vending Machines, etc.
  • Provide accurate Gantt charts
  • Review and approved third party submissions.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Oversee progress to confirm value for money and on time delivery.

Requirements:

  • Detail oriented.
  • Relevant degree preferred.
  • Have SISS experience.
  • Strong stakeholder skills.
  • Confident and ability to conduct yourself well for client meetings.
  • Able to demonstrate strong communication and writing skills.
  • AutoCAD 2D skills essential, 3D experience nice to have. MicroStation 2D also desirable.
  • Familiarity with Network Rail/LUL/TFL standards highly advantageous.
