Job description
Are you looking to work on exciting and challenging projects in a flexible and rewarding environment? We have an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious Principal Transport Planner or an experienced Senior Transport Planner ready for promotion to join a growing and dynamic team of transport planners in Central London.
This is an excellent chance to work on a diverse range of high-profile projects, including major Central London developments and landmark sites like Battersea Power Station. If you're someone who thrives on making a tangible difference to the projects you work on and want to grow within a supportive, forward-thinking company, then this could be the perfect role for you.
About the Role:
As a Principal Transport Planner, you'll take on a project management role, working closely with the Project Director, who will continue to offer hands-on involvement in projects. You will lead the day-to-day running and administration of transport planning projects, while also supporting business development by preparing fee quotes and bids. You will oversee the work of junior team members, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality technical work.
This role also involves working directly with local authorities, key stakeholders, and clients, and you will have the autonomy to work independently when required. Whether you're leading public consultations or reviewing technical designs, this is a role that combines leadership with hands-on technical expertise.
The role comes with a competitive salary, performance-based bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes hybrid working arrangements, flexible in-office time, and an active social club. With regular monthly events and away weekends, you'll be joining a company that believes in a strong work-life balance.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you should have:
·At least 6 years of experience in transport planning, ideally in both private and public sector projects
·In-depth knowledge of the planning system and the preparation of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and Environmental Statements
·Strong understanding of cycling and walking design standards, as well as highway and building design guidelines
·Experience in using AutoCAD and Autodesk software such as AutoTrack is desirable
·Proficiency in creating visually engaging material using graphic software
·Excellent written and numeracy skills
·Experience with capacity modelling software (e.g. PICADY, ARCADY, LinSIG)
·Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, architects, stakeholders, and contractors
·Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work within deadlines
·Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
Key Responsibilities:
·Collaborate with hands-on Project Directors to manage a wide range of transport planning projects
·Support and mentor junior team members to enhance their development and project delivery
·Develop multi-modal access strategies and designs for a variety of development and public sector projects
·Undertake feasibility studies and technical assessments for large masterplan sites
·Prepare a range of reports, including Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and Service Plans
·Play an active role in the transport aspects of building and development design
·Attend and lead meetings with clients, architects, and local planning authorities
