About the Role

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Planning Officer to join a busy Planning service, supporting the assessment and progression of planning applications and providing professional planning advice.

You will work across a varied caseload, applying planning policy and legislation while working closely with Members, officers, applicants and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
· Assess and process planning applications in line with relevant legislation and policy
· Research and analyse planning information to support recommendations
· Provide clear planning advice to applicants, officers, Members and stakeholders
· Prepare well-structured reports and written correspondence
· Interpret technical plans and planning documents
· Manage workloads proactively and meet key deadlines
· Support continuous improvement across the Planning service
· Work collaboratively with colleagues across different areas of the service

Requirements:
· Recognised degree in Planning or a relevant discipline such as Architecture or Urban Design
· MRTPI or eligibility for membership desirable
· Experience working within planning processes
· Good knowledge of planning policy and legislation
· Strong research, analytical and report-writing skills
· Excellent communication and organisational skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Full and valid UK driving licence
