Special Programme Manager
 
This special programme manager role sits within Highways & Transport, with a significant remit that directly affects Sustainable highway and transport solutions and in particular the delivery of a programme of inter-related Safer Neighbourhood traffic areas, School Streets, Cycling and Walking projects; the role holder will have a major contribution to deliver these projects from inception through to implementation.   The role will report to the Assistant Director of Highways, with a dotted line to the Programme Management Office.

In support of delivery of this programme, the main purpose of this role is to provide leadership, effective management and accountability for the efficient performance of the Service.
As the Programme Manager you will be responsible for the overall management and coordination of discrete projects and the overall programme, by effectively planning, monitoring and supporting the delivery of all elements, working to and advising the Programme Sponsor on innovative approaches to delivering services, and in partnership with Assistant Directors, Councillors, Heads of Service, consultants, service managers and officers, as well as Customer Services, OD, HR, Communications and Engagement, Legal and Finance colleagues. 
 
Previous experience in Highways is essential for this role.
