Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to come and join our busy client in the Midlands on an initial 6 month contract basis.
 
The main duties of the Health and Safety Manager are:
 
·Establish and maintain health and safety policy and procedures in line with ISO 4500.
·Lead the Health and Safety team to provide support, specialist advice and professional guidance to the business on relevant health and safety legislation, regulatory requirements, industry standards and best practice to ensure the company maintains compliance with all of these requirements.
·Lead internal communication and engagement exercises to raise awareness, knowledge and understanding of key health and safety issues across the workforce to an appropriate level.
·Collaborate with Environmental and Quality leads to ensure the continued development of the Integrated Management System with a focus on achieving workforce engagement, compliance and continual improvement.


The Health and Safety Manager will have knowledge and experience in:
 
·NEBOSH Diploma / Degree or relevant equivalent qualification in Health & Safety and membership of a relevant professional body (i.e. IOSH).
·Proven experience in a similar role within highways and civil engineering.
·Experience of working to an accredited ISO 45001 Health & Safety system.
·Strong communication, influence and engagement skills across all levels of an organisation and with external stakeholders.
·Proven ability to effectively lead and manage a team of Health & Safety Advisors and to organise and prioritise workload to meet the needs internal and external stakeholders.
