Graduate Bridge Engineer
 
Our client is looking for a Graduate Bridge Engineer to join their team in Carlisle.
 
The Structures design team undertakes a wide variety of major and minor infrastructure projects, seeking to provide integrated solutions incorporating state of the art design, with the successful candidate having the opportunity of relevant experience with a view to attaining professional qualifications.
 
The role requires an enthusiastic Graduate Engineer who will play a key role in the organisation and will contribute to the design and development of projects and programmes. They will undertake a range of technical aspects required for project delivery under the direction of the Project Manager, using industry standard software such as AutoCAD and Tekla Structural Designer.
 
As a graduate you will combine previous academic learning with practical experience and professional development gained to form the foundation for your professional career, with the role offering clear progression to senior roles and beyond.
 
Responsibilities of the role:
 
·You will be part of an engineering design team preparing feasibility studies, conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of a range of Infrastructure and highway projects.
 
·You will undertake the feasibility, preliminary and detailed design of highway improvement schemes which involves structures / Bridges / Retaining Walls to DMRB standards using Revit, Tekla, Midas and AutoCAD software including preparation of contract drawings.
·Undertake the development of engineering options for a proposal so that full consideration is given to safety, reliability, operational capacity modelling, maintainability, ease of construction, and environmental/whole life issues.
·Prepare the full engineering data package required for commencement of the detailed design and participate in answering on-going clarifications/queries as needed.
 
·Support in all associated duties and carry out cross discipline engineering checks in association with engineers of other disciplines.
 
·Manage the engineering interfaces of allocated proposals with concurrent work in other disciplines.
 
·Assist in the preparation of technical outputs to the highest standards in accordance with the Capita's quality management system
 
·Help to develop the production of drawings, reports, and specifications
 
·Opportunity to work under mentorship to develop your chartership
 
Requirements of the role:
 
·Engineering degree in a relevant discipline, Institution of Structural Engineers (CEng IStructE)
·Desire to work towards chartership for the Institute of Civil Engineers
·Excellent written and oral communication skills.
·Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team comprising planners, designers, engineers and technicians.
·Able to manage your own time to meet project deadlines and budget targets.
·Proven ability to write accurate, clear, high-quality reports in English.
·Ability to respond to Project Manager and Client requests and meet challenging deadlines.
·Eligible to work in the UK with a valid work permit if applicable.
·Shall have a sound understanding of the Construction Design and Management (CDM) 2015 Regulations & Common Safety Method (CSM) 2013 Regulations, specifically the designer's requirements.
