Are you an experienced Estimator or Quantity Surveyor looking for a role with REAL work life balance?
Our client is looking for an Estimator who can run highway and civils projects end to end. You will deliver fully costed quotes, target estimates and compensation events / variations on a wide range of small to medium complex highway and civil engineering construction and maintenance projects.
Main accountabilities:
·Price tenders, quotations, estimates and target prices for small, medium and large, sometimes complex engineering projects and works using manual calculation and electronic system including spreadsheets, databases and estimating systems.
·Obtain quotes for materials and specialist works from suppliers and sub-contractors, to ensure up to date market prices are being used in quotes.
·Act as main point of contact for external clients on successful bids for works, to maintain stakeholder relationships ensuring customer satisfaction and enabling repeat business.
·Process Project Change Control forms for internal works and compensation events on external works to ensure up to date projected costs are recorded updating stakeholders and ensuring invoice are raised as appropriate
·Ensure the Estimating Register is kept up to date in a timely and accurate manner to enable for the Estimating and Planning Manager to compile reports to support programme management.
·Inform Estimating and Planning Manager of successful external quotes and request project codes and invoices and ensure the Operations Team have the necessary information to carry out works.
·Maintain job files to include all emails, drawings/specifications, quotes, invoices, Valesco files and all other relevant details, to ensure all relevant information is available and accessible by others to answer queries and provide information.
·Attend Early Contractor Involvement meetings on site with stakeholders to ascertain what is required in terms of Labour, Plant and Materials to ensure accurate pricing.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
·An appropriate higher-level qualification in civil engineering or quantity surveying and/or proven technical knowledge gained through practical experience in civil engineering, building or surveying
·Confident in the use of all Microsoft applications; word, excel, PowerPoint, and be able to prepare spreadsheets & presentations
·A proven ability to represent the service by developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
·Proven ability to plan and prioritise workload and react to stakeholders' queries in a busy office environment
·Full Driving Licence
·Ability to understand and evaluate technical construction drawings and specifications
·Knowledge and understanding of using NEC contracts.
