Service Manager - Enforcement, Highways and Street works

Carrington West are currently helping Southend on Sea council with their search for a Service Manager for their Enforcement, Highways and Street works division. The role will strategically lead the management of the Highways, Street Works and all associated Enforcement of both service areas. Function across Southend; working with commissioned and non-commissioned partners from across the Borough to deliver innovative, efficient and effective services to the residents and businesses of the Borough. 

The role will also act as the de facto deputy for the Head of Service as well as actively supporting the delivery of core strategic cross-Directorate projects. Responsible for ensuring that the delivery of services and the development are delivered in a holistic, efficient and consistent way maintaining the integrity of the service delivery plan.

What you'll need to succeed 

Significant and proven experience in the management of large, complex, multi-model, operational services within a public sector environment. You'll have significant senior management experience in a large complex public sector organisation or similar.

You'll be able to show your success in developing strategic working relationships and partnerships across an area, focused on the delivery of great services to residents, businesses, and partners. 

It would be great to see a record of achievement in developing and delivering cross-functional and corporate objectives and plans. Significant ability to analyse complex information, situations and issues, deploy highly developed problem solving skills and make high impact decisions. Detailed understanding of public sector working, government priorities and policies. Significant knowledge and experience in the effective management of performance, including experience of resource management (people, finance, physical resources).

The ability to strategically lead, motivate and energise a diverse functional workforce is very important so having significant/well developed communication skills, particularly in motivating, negotiating and persuading others, including partner organisations is imperative!
