Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in the West Midlands in the search for Development Management Manager to join their Town Planning Service on an initial 6-month contract.
 
We are looking for an experienced qualified Town Planner and Manager who has strong day-to-day experience of Development Management and Management in the public sector. You will be required to undertake the normal duties for a post of this kind, including advising staff on the determination of planning applications, signing off planning application reports, quality and performance monitoring, and staff management.  You will be an effective leader, with clear vision, strong negotiating skills and the ability to develop good partnership working.
 
The successful candidate will have a range of responsibilities including:
·Managing and developing the development management function of the Council
·The management of the development management staff and budgetary resources
·Act as the lead officer in the delivery of the councils statutory responsibility to determine planning applications and co-ordinating planning committee
·Sign off decisions of planning officers
·Management of workloads and allocation
 
My client is looking for an experienced manager with extensive experience within Development Management. You should hold a Post-graduate degree in Town and Country Planning, Regeneration or a related discipline. Achieved or eligible for chartered membership of the Royal Town Institute (RTPI).
 
This contract will last for an initial 6 month period, however, it is possible that this will roll on.
 
The council are looking for candidates who will be able to hit the ground running so the ability to demonstrate experience in determining planning applications, providing advise at Planning Committee, managing employees, assisting with budget management, and delivering service improvements are key.
 

Carrington West Pay Rate - £60per/hour
