Job Role - Design Engineer (CE&I)

Location - Whitehaven

Contract Length - 12 Months

Pay Rate - £45 Hour

This role will be best suited for a candidate that can support the design of plant engineering at the request of the relevant lead engineer which will typical comprise of PMP's, MSC Papers, Technical Papers and commissioning test documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review of Drawings and Plant discrepancies and the associated drawing records updates.
  • Resolution of minor queries and provision of advice and guidance on design and configuration management.
  • Attendance at Operational Decision Making meetings.
  • Engagement with Design Capability or Project office design engineers for specialist support.
  • Preparation of necessary design deliverables in support of plant recovery
  • Preparation of design packages
  • CDM Risk Assessments
  • Design reviews


Essential Skills:

  • Demonstrable significant experience of participation in teams of CE&I engineers and designers undertaking a wide range of CE&I design packages.
  • Evidence of delivering fit for purpose engineering design across the full design cycle.
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving and ability to apply 'Fit for Purpose Mind-set' and 'Engineering Judgement' where appropriate.
  • Broad understanding of CE&I Safety Systems and Functional Safety
  • Evidence of having a sound working knowledge of CE&I Standards and awareness of relevant, national and international codes, specifications, standards and legislation relevant to CE&I engineering.
  • Nuclear experience on legacy, new and operational nuclear installations at Sellafield (Desired)
  • Competent in the use of AutoCAD (Desired)
