Job description

Due to consistent year on year expansion, a growing pipeline of already secured clients and projects we are seeking a Deputy Managing Director to join this award winning multi-disciplinary Engineering Consultancy.
 
As Deputy Managing Director you will lead an ambitious growth strategy and position the business as a market leader across the UK, delivering personable, solution-focused and cutting-edge outcomes, and be an organisation that our client's staff are proud to work for.
 
The Deputy Managing Director role will provide strategic leadership, ownership and delivery of the strategic goals and objectives. You will use your experience and industry knowledge to develop new profitable workstreams and work with the Senior Leadership Team to deliver award winning projects, maintain and build long term client relationships and an organisational culture and environment that identifies and develops talent. Whilst the role will be predominantly based in the south-east you will be expected to cover all UK office locations and client relationships.
 
What you'll be doing...
 
·Provide the leadership, gravitas, and strategic thinking to develop and grow a technical design consultancy, that values its staff, and delivers a personable, high quality service for its clients
·Responsible for all financial and commercial performance of the business, with full profit and loss accountability.
·Evaluate risk and business trade-offs to achieve optimal business solutions and results for clients and the business.
·Full Profit/Loss responsibility for the Organisation
·Lead a happy, supported and diverse team for today and tomorrow, and one that is highly motivated in looking after the clients and the business interests.
·Provide visible, tangible leadership to managers and colleagues, and exhibit our corporate values.
·Ensure appropriate skilled resources are in place and developed through the business.
·Responsible for financial and commercial performance of the business, with full profit and loss accountability.
·Gain the clients trust by ensuring we deliver their requirements to time, budget, and exceed quality expectations.
·Work with clients to understand and exceed their objectives.
·Build and maintain relationships based on the partnership approach.
·Negotiate at a senior level with internal, external business partners, clients and customers.
·Establish overall business plans to achieve business growth, profit and improvement.
·Ensure projects are managed in compliance of the Quality Management System, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity and Environmental Management processes.
·Identify and exploit business opportunities and introduce best practice.
·Co-ordinate and integrate diverse inputs to ensure realisation of targets.
·Produce and deliver agreed budgets.
·Monitor progress and take appropriate actions to deliver the profit and loss account.
·Maintain working capital to approved levels.
 
We are looking for someone who is a seasoned professional with extensive experience, knowledge and reputation within our core market.  You'll be degree qualified in Engineering / Public Realm and hold the appropriate chartered professional membership.

·An outstanding and relevant track record in service/project delivery.
·Experience of managing substantial resources (people, finance).
·Broad understanding of the highway, transportation and public realm arena.
·Excellent commercial acumen.
