Location: Birmingham
Contract: Permanent, full time 
My client is a leading highways service provider, delivering an incredibly diverse range of road, bridge and tunnel projects - from planning and programming stage through to delivery, maintenance and operation. They work with a wide range of partners such as local authorities and Highways England to improve the quality and safety of UK roads. 
They are looking to recruit a Structures Manager. As part of the Area 9 Asset Support Contract, the Structures Manager will be accountable for developing and managing the Structures Programme which has an annual budget of circa £30m. 
Key Responsibilities
You will work in collaboration with Highways England to ensure identified needs are assessed and developed into cost effective technical solutions through the Value Management / Stage Gate process.
The Structures Manager will lead assessment and design teams to develop robust projects in conjunction with their team and other disciplines within the organisation, the supply chain and the client.
They will lead project management, risk management, innovation and will be technically accountable for the development of highways structures maintenance, strengthening and design schemes within Area 9.
Ideally, you should be a Chartered Engineer with ICE or MIStructE; have strong technical skills and experience in a combination of bridge maintenance, strengthening and design; and have the ability to recognise defects on highway structures and recommend suitable repair options. You should also have robust working knowledge of Highways Technical Approval standards, and have proven project management of highway structures projects or tasks up to £2M and delivery to programme and budget in a safe environment. Finally, you should have a strong track record of developing, mentoring and supervision of staff.
