Our client is currently seeking Engineers to undertake site supervision roles, specifically for the A465. This role has been deemed inside IR35. The scheme is located between Hirwaun and Dowlais Top at the "Heads of the Valleys", adjacent to the Brecon Beacons National Park. There are a large number of structures within the scheme , including 34 new bridges to be constructed and 5 existing bridges altered for changed use or loading. The bridges are predominantly precast concrete beam, steel beam composite or large concrete box structures.
 
The successful candidates will be responsible for site supervision on behalf of the designer. The role will be to primarily escalate issues identified on site to the design team in the office, and ensuring that works are being undertaken to the approved design and specification. You will have a background in civil engineering, and an interest in the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects within the highway environment.
 
Qualifications
 
·BEng / MEng or MSc degree in civil engineering or equivalent
 
Expected Criteria
 
·Good communication skills to liaise with site staff, to identify and investigate further any technical queries raised on-site - which can then be resolved through review of previously prepared design documentation or by discussions with designers based in remote offices. Therefore, the ability to communicate issues promptly and clearly, identifying risks and opportunities is essential
·Ability and confidence to raise immediately all safety and quality concerns with Contractor staff, stop works where necessary and escalate issues to Design Office and Client when required
·Ability to supervise work being undertaken to ensure it is being undertaken by others to the approved design and specification, and within agreed programme and budget constraints
·Experience of working with key clients such as major Contractors, Local Authorities and/or Highways England
·Good awareness of relevant standards (e.g. DMRB, TSRGD, MCHW, Eurocodes and those of Highways England)
·Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes, particularly Word and Excel
·Sound interpersonal skills and ability to converse with a wide range of colleagues across a number of engineering disciplines
