What were you doing before you joined Carrington West?
I was working at a car dealership as an after-sales customer service advisor.
How did you come across Carrington West and what made you want to join?
I was looking for a new challenge in a less external customer-facing role and saw Carrington West hiring for a business support role on Indeed. I had heard of the company before, and after looking at the website, I was impressed by the company's awards and the great culture they had to offer.
After you started in business support, what motivated you to move to a finance role?
In my business support role, I was helping the accounts team with reconciliation. I really enjoyed learning the new task, and when an entry-level position became available in the accounts team, I immediately jumped at the chance. I saw it as an opportunity to start my career path with a company I loved working for.
What’s the best thing about working in the finance team?
The collaboration and sharing of knowledge. There's a wide range of expertise across the team, and the way we all work together to continuously expand our own knowledge is very rewarding.
After a year in the role, I started my AAT Level 2 qualification, which I have passed. I am now working on my AAT Level 3 and have plans to start my AAT Level 4. During this time, I also gained a promotion to Accounts Assistant.
What's been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge was finding my self-belief and confidence. Doing something like this interview would have terrified me before. Carrington West has been instrumental in my growth through staff development workshops and internal training sessions. I've really grown as a person.
What motivates you to come to work in the morning?
The office culture. Seeing everyone come together every day to do something we all enjoy and believe in. I also love the office location and being able to look out my window at the lake.
What are you looking forward to in the future?
Progression with my studies to become a high performer in the team. I also look forward to watching Carrington West grow and expanding with it, and hopefully buying a house!
What would be your advice to anyone starting their career at Carrington West?
Just do it. Get stuck into the culture and give it your all. You get out what you put in at Carrington West. Be prepared to unlock the best version of yourself and grow more than you ever thought you could.
